There are many reasons why people look at getting an IP address from a different part of the world. In some cases, censorship is an important reason, however, in places like France, censorship is minimal, and not a driving factor. People in France may look at getting an IP address from somewhere else in the world to increase their privacy or security. Through a VPN you can easily get a Scottish IP address in France, which will give you a lot of benefits.   A Scottish IP address might seem an odd choice, but it is just one of many. A VPN lets you choose the location of the VPN server that you connect to, so you can choose one from just about anywhere in the world. You do need to consider the location however, because some are better than others. I recommend using a Scottish VPN server because censorship is minimal in Scotland and there are also no laws that will significantly impede on your privacy. Furthermore, if you are interested in television programs or news from Scotland, such as if you have family there, having a Scottish IP address will allow you to access local content.   Changing the IP address that is associated with your computer isn’t very difficult to do, at least not if you use a VPN. A VPN allows you to connect to a server which then masks your information, allowing you to appear to be somewhere else, in this case Scotland. The benefits of this are substantial. Firstly, having an IP address that is not your own means that there is no solid relationship between your physical identity and your online identity. In fact, the method that the VPN uses to pass information means that your own internet service provider doesn’t have a record of what you do when you are online. This is very good if you are concerned about privacy or about free speech. Another aspect is security, if you choose to get a Scottish IP address in France, dissociating your IP address from yourself is only one way that security is enhanced. The other way is to do with the VPN itself....

Get a Korean IP Address

Video: How to get an IP from South Korea using a VPN     Recommended VPN Services   IAPS Security Store Anyway, enough blabbing from me. Here’s the link to IAPS Security Store.  The link to PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP VPN servers is on the left, then you can CTRL+F “Korean” to find the Korean VPN servers. >>> IAPS Security Store Full Review >>>>> IAPS Security Store Official Website   Hide My Ass Hide My Ass now has servers in Korea. Because of the huge price difference and user friendliness of their VPN software, I highly recommend this service.  It is typically the VPN I use in all my videos (sorry, no video yet for Korea, but it’s coming soon). This is one of the most popular VPNs featured on my website and other VPN review sites as well. >>> read the full review here >>>>> sign up for HMA here   IPVanish IPVanish has also added VPN servers in Korea. This is a very strong and fast moving VPN service that has added more than 20 country locations in 2012 2013. I think they are trying to catch up to HideMyAss, and currently feature over 40 countries. They also have a nice VPN software (good, but different from HMA), and are definitely worth a try. >>> read the full review here >>>>> sign up for IPVanish here     So, once again I’ve discovered that I missed a couple IP locations for my website. Though I don’t only feature IAPS Security Store on ChangeIPOnline.Com, I do write a lot about the services they offer because their VPN and proxy network is huge, and you can find IP locations that are impossible to find anywhere else. One of these places is Korea.  They currently have PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP VPN servers in South Korea.  Sorry, no OpenVPN options, but IPSec VPN servers should provide you with higher levels of encryption for Mac and Win XP, and you can always use SSTP for Vista or Win 7.  Of course PPTP works with smartphones and most computer OS. There are various pricing options for Korean IP address locations, starting at $12 for 1 month and discounts all the way up to...

How To Mask Your IP Address – And Why

How To Mask Your IP Address – And Why

By in Change IP Address, Hide IP Address, Proxies, Virtual Private Network |

The IP address of your computer can be masked through a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN is a secure network that is often used in businesses and institutions to allow employees remote connectivity to local private network servers at the office.  Encryption and tunneling protocols make you “virtually” part of the network. Now, VPN providers are common online, with a range of different services. Many VPN providers offer IP addresses in many different countries, allowing you to change your IP address to whatever country you desire, and change it at any time. An alternative to masking your IP address through a VPN is to use an anonymous proxy server. The proxy server sits between your computer and the Internet, and all traffic requests you make are sent through the proxy. Minus the encryption and tunneling protocols, an anonymous proxy also masks your IP address. One disadvantage of using a standard proxy is that the fact that you are using a proxy is evident. This does not normally affect what you are able to browse online, but some sites do block proxy access. The problem does not always originate from the website. Open proxies are often poorly set up. They are often targets of hackers and scammers, as well as often being host to viruses or malware. Using open proxies is not recommend for non tech-savvy users. Whether you choose a VPN or a proxy, they both offer the ability to mask your IP address. This can be used as a way to strengthen your online security, ensure browsing anonymity, and even help you break a few rules.   See the full review of my top rated web based proxy See the Top 10 list of my favorite VPN services.     Read mini-reviews below to save yourself some time.   Hide My Ass For a first time VPN user, the best VPN service is unquestionably Hide My Ass.  Their ProVPN package is compatible with 90% of smartphones and operating systems, and includes thousands of anonymous IP addresses from 32 countries.  It’s cheaper that most other VPN services with packages offering less. >>> Full Review of Hide My Ass >>>>> Go to the official website of HMA   SecuriTales...

The Easy Way To Hide Your IP Address Online

The Easy Way To Hide Your IP Address Online

By in Dedicated IP Address, Hide IP Address, Proxies, Virtual Private Network |

Whether you are just browsing the internet or working with sensitive information, there are a number of reasons to hide your IP address. Your IP address is the identity assigned to your computer or phone, and is unique to your device. This address is used to identify your computer. It can be used not only to pinpoint your location, but also to monitor browsing activity, find out what operating system you’re using, see where you click, and even what you download. It is possible to “change your IP address” by changing the network settings on your computer.  But it involves configuring your network settings so that the server assigns you a dynamic IP address. If you get dizzy just by reading that sentence, then you’re like most people.  Not only that, this is often an ineffective method of “hiding” your IP address. It only means that it’s harder to pinpoint your online activity.  It’s not common that you’ll have free access to the server anyhow.  Also, all traffic and data can still be traced back to you.   Proxies A more versatile method is to us a web based proxy. A proxy server acts as a detour between your computer and the websites you visit. An anonymous proxy server can be used to hide your IP address because it strips the IP address off your traffic requests and replaces it with its own. This leads to your IP address being masked by the IP address of the proxy. It is usually evident to server administrators that you are browsing through a proxy, this will not normally have any effect. There are web based proxies online, but be careful about which you choose. Some proxies can be used to record your IP data and use it to send out spam and/or viruses/malware. A professional and inexpensive service is available at SecuriTales.  There’s a free trial HERE. Or you can read a full review here.   Virtual Private Networks Another alternative is using a VPN. VPNs are a secure, private network that allows both remote and direct connections to their servers. IP addresses of computers on the network are assigned by the server to mask your real IP. Some VPNs change...

How to Hide Your IP Address Online

How to Hide Your IP Address Online

By in Hide IP Address, Proxies, Virtual Private Network |

Top Three Reasons To Hide Your IP Address   There are a number of reasons to hide your IP address online. Your IP address is an identifier for your computer or device that allows it to be pinpointed on a network. In addition to this, the address is tied to all online activity you do, allowing your browsing and searching history to be associated to you. Some search providers go as far a storing your searching history for “data” purposes.   1. Protect Your Private Data While You Surf Identity theft is a serious problem.  It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it does happen. I have had two email passwords stolen and my accounts used for spam, as well as had my credit card number stolen online.  Luckily, my bank though it was pretty weird to spend $900 USD in one go at an online gaming community and froze the card. No money was stolen, but I realized that it doesn’t always happen to ‘someone else’.  Some identity theft starts at identifying your IP and intercepting your traffic. Have you ever heard of  “session jacking” or “packet sniffing”?. These are techniques used to monitor traffic on networks, and can be used by private parties to intercept data on shared networks (ie shared wifi). There are even tutorials on YouTube and Firefox addons that facilitate stealing passwords.  Data security is the BIGGEST reason to hide your IP address online. 2. Get Access To Blocked Sites Your physical location can be used to determine whether or not you are able to access some websites. For example, streaming videos from Hulu and Netflix are only accessible from inside the United States.  BBC iPlayer is only available with a British IP. There are similar restrictions placed on the websites with servers in other countries, like Canada, France, Australia, Russia, Japan, and more. Some countries do the opposite block many sites from inside the country! This is called internet censorship. Countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Egypt, and Iran are just the ones you hear about in the news.  In fact, most countries in the world censor the internet to some degree.  Protecting your citizens from “Online Terrorists” or “National Threats” is...

How To Hide Your IP Address On The Internet

How To Hide Your IP Address On The Internet

By in Hide IP Address |

The number of Google searches for how to hide your IP address on the internet grows every year. Hiding your IP address allows you to not only browse the Internet free of any of your activity being traced by third parties, but it also allows you to have an anonymous identity while participating in online communities. There are a number of different ways to hide your IP. You can either mask your IP address using a proxy, or have a new one assigned by using a virtual private network. Both can increase the security and anonymity of your online activity, but they differ in some crucial ways.   Manually Change IP Manual options, often listed as a way to ‘change your IP’, do something a bit different. Changing your IP address manually through your router has limited uses. It can give you a new IP address to use if you were blocked by a websites servers. In this way, your previous internet activity cannot be traced to you. However, the number of IP addresses available for your router is finite, and it still doesn’t solve the problem of security or consistent anonymity.   Proxies A more efficient method of changing your IP is to actually ‘hide’ your current IP by using a proxy. A proxy sits between your computer network and the greater internet. It intercepts all traffic to and from your computer. Any traffic requests that your computer makes are sent to the proxy first. The proxy then either serves it based off the information in its own cache, or if it does not have the information, it requests it from the network on your behalf. Prior to requesting the information, the proxy strips your IP address off the traffic request and replaces it with its own. This results in the IP of the proxy masking the IP address of your computer. While it is evident to server administrators that you are browsing through a proxy, your browsing remains secure. This means that anyone spying on you or trying to steal passwords and other data won’t see your original IP – they’ll only see the IP of the proxy, making side-jacking or http jacking more difficult. It also...
